Bard (Google)
What is Bard?
Google Bard’s is a conversational AI service that can be used by the public.
How do you get Bard?
You need a personal Google account (versus an enterprise account you use for work). You also need to be 18, which Google said it will try to suss out from what it knows about you (aka everything). Then you can join the waitlist via bard.google.com(Opens in a new window). Google appears to be granting access pretty quickly, usually in a day or two.
Where does Bard gets its data?
The basis of Bard is Google’s own LaMDA(Opens in a new window), a language model that has been trained on a data set called Infiniset(Opens in a new window). The data is 50% of dialogues on public forums, 12.5% C4 data (Common Crawl’s web crawl(Opens in a new window)), 12.5% publicly available documents related to programming, 12.5% Wikipedia in English, 6.25% English web documents, and 6.25% Non-English web documents.

Bing with AI (Microsoft)
What is Bing with AI?
Microsoft’s Bing search engine has always come in second to Google. The company is hoping to change that with Bing’s new capabilities: namely, the addition of OpenAI’s ChatGPT tech but with access to current info that the standalone ChatGPT does not possess, since it was not trained on data past 2021 (though that’s set to change soon).

This enhanced Bing is the result of a partnership with OpenAI, so it’s the same tech as ChatGPT and GPT 3.5, but it’s customized for search using a proprietary technology called Prometheus.

Writesonic says that it uses GPT-4 but is also using Google to keep the information provided by ChatSonic current.

Claude (Anthropic)
What is Claude?
Claude is an AI assistant developed by Anthropic, a company that has $300 million of Google backing and is founded by former OpenAI executives: siblings Dario and Daniela Amodei. The company created Claude, a high-performance model, and Claude Instant, a lighter and faster version that is also less expensive.
How do you get Claude?
You can sign up for Claude via a waitlist(Opens in a new window) that asks you a few questions, including whether you want to use the web app, utilize Slack integration, or get access to the API. But the easiest way to try Claude is to download Quora’s AI app Poe(Opens in a new window), which uses the technology. Right now, Poe is iOS-only.
