Amazon Prime Video has introduced a new feature called Dialogue Boost, which allows viewers to increase the volume of dialogue relative to background music and effects. The feature is initially designed for Prime Video customers who are hard of hearing, but can be used by anyone to suit their personal listening preferences.
Dialogue Boost is now available worldwide on select English-language Amazon originals, including The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, and Harlem, as well as films like The Big Sick, Being the Ricardos, and Beautiful Boy. Amazon has also announced plans to add Dialogue Boost support for additional titles later this year.
Using an AI-based approach, Dialogue Boost analyzes the original audio in a movie or series and identifies points where dialogue may be hard to hear. It then isolates speech patterns and enhances the audio to make the dialogue clearer, providing a more precise and tailored listening experience.
Dialogue Boost is available across all devices that support Prime Video, including smart TVs, streaming devices, and mobile devices. Customers can easily identify whether Dialogue Boost is available for a title on the detail page of the content. During playback, viewers can choose between two levels of Dialogue Boost via the audio and subtitles drop-down menu: “English Dialogue Boost: Medium” or “Dialogue Boost: High,” allowing them to customize their listening experience based on their preferences.
